SUMMARY
A private household in Toronto is seeking an experienced House Manager to oversee the daily operation of a luxury residence and provide comprehensive support to the Principal. This hands-on and leadership role combines household management, food prep and cooking, light cleaning and laundry, property oversight, budgeting, and other hands-on operational responsibilities to ensure the residence functions seamlessly and is maintained to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, strong leadership abilities, refined attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to service excellence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Household Management Oversee the day-to-day operation of a luxury private residence. Ensure the home remains impeccably maintained, organized, and presentation-ready. Conduct routine inspections of both the interior and exterior of the property. Coordinate seasonal maintenance and preventative care programs. Maintain detailed household procedures, manuals, and operational records. Property & Vendor Management Manage all household maintenance and repair projects. Source, evaluate, and supervise contractors and service providers. Obtain competitive quotations and oversee project completion. Coordinate landscaping, pool maintenance, mechanical systems, and other property services. Financial Administration Manage the household operating budget. Review invoices and process payments. Maintain petty cash and household accounts. Complete monthly financial reconciliations and maintain accurate expense records. Household Operations Assist with housekeeping, laundry, wardrobe management, and household organization when required. Supervise external housekeeping and dry-cleaning services. Maintain household inventory and replenish essential supplies. Coordinate deliveries, shipments, and household logistics. Principal Support Act as the primary liaison between the Principal and contractors. Coordinate appointments, schedules, and administrative tasks as required. Assist with grocery shopping, meal coordination, and food preparation when the principal is at residence (±3 months/year). Run personal errands and provide day-to-day support to the Principal. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Minimum of five years of experience as a House Manager, Estate Manager, Household Manager, or in a comparable leadership role within a luxury private residence. Previous experience supervising external contractors. Strong knowledge of luxury household operations and property management. Experience managing household budgets, invoices, and financial records. Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to anticipate needs, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently. Professional appearance and polished interpersonal skills. Demonstrated discretion, integrity, and sound judgment. Flexibility to adjust working hours based on the Principal's schedule, including occasional weekends. Legally authorized to work in Canada. Schedule
The schedule varies depending on the Principal's residence in Toronto. When the Principal is away, the position generally follows a Monday-to-Friday schedule of approximately six hours per day. When the Principal is in residence, flexibility is required, with workdays typically extending to 10–12 hours and occasional Saturday coverage as needed.
Compensation
A competitive compensation package will be offered based on the successful candidate's experience, qualifications, and overall suitability for the position.
