What you’ll accomplish with us

As a Senior Underwriter – Post-Issue Underwriting, you’ll be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:

  • Assess risks for life, critical illness, and disability insurance.
  • Deliver high-quality analyses that meet established standards.
  • Lead the review of post-issue cases (post-claim underwriting), determining whether cancellation or pricing adjustments are warranted.
  • Analyze data and trends to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide structured feedback to underwriters and analysts following post-issue reviews and post-claim underwriting cases; share key findings, prioritize improvement opportunities, and support their implementation to enhance underwriting quality.
  • Manage correspondence with agents and clients regarding requirements, final decisions, or cancellations.
  • Monitor and report weekly on volumes and trends related to post-issue and post-claim underwriting.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure efficient execution of administrative processes.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is known for their strong analytical skills and sound judgment.
  • Stands out for their ability to simplify and explain complex concepts.
  • Demonstrates excellent negotiation skills.
  • Is client- and advisor-oriented, with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Has 8 years of relevant experience in medical underwriting.
  • Holds a university degree (Bachelor’s); ALU and FLMI designations are assets.
  • Good understanding of French.

Advanced level of English proficiency, as the role involves exchanging information necessary for understanding and processing complex underwriting cases with English-speaking partners in the individual insurance sector, on a weekly basis (30–50% of the time).
