Term: Permanent, Part-Time

Hours: 21 hours per week

Shift: TBD, 3 days per week including Tuesday and Thursday evenings during program delivery

Start Date: January 12, 2026

End Date: December 31, 2026

Salary: $32.00 per hour

Nature & Scope

Supervisor, Mental Wellness (Y Mind Program) is a psychoeducation and support group that meets virtually for 2.5 hours one evening per week for 7 weeks. It supports adults 31 years of age and older who experience symptoms of mild to moderate anxiety to learn helpful coping strategies and connect with other adults in a safe and encouraging group environment.

Two groups run concurrently on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Three Y Mind Adult Program Facilitators are responsible for the intake of 10-12 group participants and delivery of the program which includes 2 group-based Information Sessions and individual follow-up meetings with each participant. The Y Mind Adult group curriculum is based on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness approaches and is delivered for free (based on program funding) to participants.

Reporting to the Director, Mental Wellness, the Mental Wellness Supervisor (Y Mind Program) will work collaboratively with the Y Mind Adult Program Facilitators as well as with other YMCA staff to coordinate and oversee Y Mind Adult. The Mental Wellness Supervisor (Y Mind Program) is responsible for directly overseeing two part-time Program Facilitators, program marketing and promotions, participant recruitment, program administration including funding reports and supporting broad ranging tasks pertaining to program delivery. If program participants require additional support, the Mental Wellness Supervisor (Y Mind Program) will work with Program Facilitators and program participants to find appropriate referrals and will follow up with participants when they are absent from the group. The Mental Wellness Supervisor (Y Mind Program) will support program delivery by attending the Information Sessions and program sessions as needed.

Major Responsibilities**-** in this position, you will**:**

  • Oversees marketing, promotions, and participant recruitment for Y Mind Adult in order to reach program targets (10-12 adults per cycle)
  • Ensures the delivery of high-quality programing and services
  • Supports program participants as needed (e.g. providing appropriate referrals, following up when sessions are missed etc.)
  • Provides coordination and administrative program-related support
  • Coordinates program evaluation
  • Ensures the safety of branch/program participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain strong relationships with Program Facilitators and other YMCA staff
  • Establish and maintain community partnerships for program promotion
  • Maintain an atmosphere of achievement with staff, participants, and community partners
  • Oversees and supports two part-time Program Facilitators
  • Provides role and program specific orientation and training to new employees
  • Coaches, develops and supports staff to achieve excellence in service delivery
  • Provides ongoing supervision of employee performance and completes reviews within required process timeframes
  • Deals with performance issues using the required steps in the discipline process, up to and including termination
  • Develop intake schedules and timelines to meet delivery requirements
  • Report writing for funder
  • Collaborate with the Mental Wellness branch to reach annual fundraising goal for YMCA Annual Campaign

Qualification**-you bring:**

  • University degree in mental health or health promotion field, Master’s Degree preferred, but a combination of experience and education in mental wellness will be considered
  • Experience working with mental health programs that support adults
  • Strong administrative & organization skills including proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated experience in community outreach and promoting community-based programs
  • Staff supervision experience including leadership to a diverse team
  • Ability to recognize mental health signs and symptoms beyond mild-moderate spectrum and provide appropriate referrals
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in a high demand environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
