Fundraising and Engagement Coordinator
(Contract Position)
JIAS Toronto is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping immigrants with resettlement in the Greater Toronto Area. JIAS Toronto assists lawfully admitted immigrants and refugees in meeting basic financial, social, legal, and other requirements of immigration. We work to advance the well-being and social integration of newcomers by providing a full range of outreach, support, counseling, training, and referral resources.
We are currently looking for a Fundraising & Engagement Coordinator to join our team. You will report to the Senior Manager, Development, and play an important role representing JIAS, providing a positive experience for community members interfacing with the agency, and supporting fundraising and community engagement efforts. The position includes a range of activities including representing the agency and engaging in public education; coordinating fundraising campaigns; sending out donation cards and updating donor information; supporting events; and administrative support duties such as data entry. This position is a contract position, offering flexibility to work remotely and in person at the JIAS offices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work as part of a team in coordinating community engagement meetings, events and projects to boost awareness about JIAS Toronto’s work, mission, goals and impact
- Represent JIAS at community events to promote awareness about the agency’s work and to expand the agency’s community engagement/reach
- Provide administrative and logistical event support, i.e. registration tracking, RSVPs, signage, volunteers, invoicing, vendor communications.
- Support the JIAS fundraising, community engagement, and communications teams with planning, liaison to lay leaders, and logistics of related projects
- Coordinate individual and community giving by communicating with and engaging donor prospects
- Support fundraising efforts with day-to-day tasks such as donor/foundation recognition and acknowledgement, data entry to maintain up to date donor records, and sending out donation cards (e-cards and printed cards, as needed)
- Coordinate and maintain JIAS’s gift programs (fundraising pages, events)
- Reply to donor inquiries via email, phone, social channels
- Act as a resource/liaison for those seeking to make in-kind donations and help establish an online forum for donors to connect directly with JIAS clients to donate items
- Work with the agency’s database (Salesforce) to maintain and utilize data to support the agency’s fundraising and engagement work.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum 2 years experience working with donors and supporting events.
- Experience in a non-profit social service setting is preferred.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Experience using client record management systems, SalesForce.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Must be a team player and able to support multiple donors, colleagues and managers.
