What the job involves
- At Webflow, we're building the world's leading AI-native Digital Experience Platform, and we're doing it as a remote-first company built on trust, transparency, and a whole lot of creativity
- This work takes grit, because we move fast, without ever sacrificing craft or quality
- Our mission is to bring development superpowers to everyone
- From entrepreneurs launching their first idea to global enterprises scaling their digital presence, we empower teams to design, launch, and optimize for the web without barriers
- We believe the future of the web, and work, is more open, more creative, and more equitable
- And we're here to build it together
- We're looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to help lead the technical future of Convert — our suite of products that give marketing and growth teams the tools to experiment, personalize, and drive real revenue from their web presence
- The next chapter is ambitious: we're serving some of the world’s largest enterprises and rethinking what a modern, AI-native conversion platform can be
- This is a cross-team technical leadership role, which means you’re working across a large, complex, revenue-generating system and figuring out what it needs to become
- You'll partner directly with senior leaders across Engineering, Product, and Design to turn that vision into something you can actually ship
- Set the long-term technical vision and architecture for backend systems powering experimentation, personalization, analytics, and conversion optimization across Webflow
- Architect and evolve high-throughput distributed systems and APIs that ingest, process, and serve large volumes of visitor and event data with low latency, high availability, and strong consistency guarantees where it matters
- Lead foundational platform investments and the data infrastructure that supports them, that unlock new product capabilities for years to come
- Partner closely with data scientists, ML engineers, and product engineers to productionize statistical and AI/ML capabilities into reliable, real-time backend infrastructure
- Lead complex, multi-team, multi-quarter technical initiatives end-to-end: from problem framing and technical strategy through implementation, launch, and long-term operational ownership
- Influence the engineering roadmap and technical strategy across the Convert pillar and partner pillars, identifying the highest-leverage investments and aligning teams behind them
- Raise the engineering bar across the org through architecture review, technical standards, observability and operational excellence practices, and the systems and tooling that support long-term quality
- Mentor and grow staff and senior engineers, multiplying your impact through the people you develop and the technical culture you help shape
- Stay current with industry trends in distributed systems, experimentation platforms, real-time data, and AI/ML infrastructure, and proactively identify opportunities to advance Webflow's backend platform and engineering practices
- Translate product vision into concrete technical problems and execution plans
Benefits
- Modern & inclusive healthcare coverage
- Retirement saving matches and financial planning
- Flexible paid time off
- Annual retreat and offsites
- WFH Office setup budget
- Health and wellness stipend
- Remote work reimbursements for phone & wifi
