About the Role

Lead Consultant – Technical Documentation & SOPs
Location: Toronto (4 Days Per Week) | Practice Area: Insurance | Type: Contract

Lead the design and delivery of high-quality technical documentation for business-critical systems.

The Role
We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented Lead Consultant to oversee the development and delivery of user-focused technical documentation across our Insurance practice. You’ll manage a team of Business Systems Analysts and Technical Writers, and be the primary liaison between our clients and the internal delivery team. You’ll set the standard for SOP maturity and ensure every engagement delivers measurable value.

What You’ll Do

  • Directly manage a team of Business Systems Analysts and Technical Writers to deliver high-quality documentation
  • Own the delivery roadmap, planning, and execution of client engagements focused on technical SOPs
  • Conduct research on documentation quality benchmarks and develop maturity models tailored to client environments
  • Ensure the final product meets quality, usability, and compliance standards
  • Support the Engagement Lead by identifying future client needs and potential follow-on opportunities

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in technical documentation within complex IT environments
  • Strong leadership capabilities with prior experience managing multidisciplinary teams
  • Skilled in client relationship management and confident in stakeholder communications
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle and IT operations
  • Ability to independently drive initiatives from planning through to delivery

Bonus Points For

  • Prior consulting experience in Insurance or Financial Services
  • Familiarity with documentation tools such as Confluence, MadCap Flare, or Adobe FrameMaker
  • Exposure to compliance or risk documentation standards
  • Experience creating and applying SOP maturity frameworks
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery methods
