Established in 1919, The SGC is a semi-private Member-owned and operated non-profit, with 520 members and annual revenues of approximately $3.0M. Staffing levels peak at roughly 75 during the summer season. The classic 18-hole championship golf club, designed by Stanley Thompson, also boasts year-round dining at our historic clubhouse, built in 1919, overlooking the St. Mary’s River. A recent addition of 2 golf simulators allows our Members and Guests to practice and play year-round.

The Sault Ste, Marie Golf Club is seeking a career-driven Associate or Assistant/ Apprentice Golf Professional to join our team, starting in January, 2026 . We invite passionate individuals dedicated to excellence in the golf industry and committed to providing best-in-class service to apply.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a forward-thinking team of individuals to deliver a “Best in Class" golf experience.
- Lead the daily operations of the Professional Shop, including selling merchandise and processing transactions in the golf shop accurately
- Check-in players for their scheduled tee times in regard to green fees, cart charges, and other fees accurately and effectively
- Oversee inventory controls, checking-in merchandise in accordance with procedures, organization of storage and display areas, inventory, etc.
- Make a lasting impact by applying your expertise and vision to enhance and upgrade key areas of the golf operation.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of the Rules of Golf, the World Handicap System (WHS), equipment, apparel, current teaching methodologies, and industry trends.
- Support preparation and execution of member events of all sizes and formats.
- Enforce club rules and policies when applicable
- Help resolve Member and Guest issues as they arise.
- Perform club fittings and minor club repairs (training provided).
- Provide high-quality lessons, clinics, and junior camps for members and guests.
- Manage back shop staff and operations ensuring best in class customer service
- Play with members and represent The Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club in professional competitions
- Oversee simulator operations in conjunction with the Director of Golf
Qualifications
- Member in good standing with the PGA of Canada or actively pursuing a PGM diploma.
- Strong public relations and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated skill and proficiency in playing ability.
- Knowledge of Tee on Golf Systems and Foresight Technology
Compensation
- Pay based on experience, $900-$1100 weekly
