About the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club: As a family-oriented private Club, our mission is to be a Great Club for our members by delivering exceptional experiences, inspired by our warm and welcoming culture. Located in North Toronto, the Club consists of more than 4,000 members, with a strong presence in the local social and sporting community.

We are currently looking for a full-time Facilities Supervisor to join our Facilities Department. This position is responsible for the day-to-day Club operations, project management, safety compliance and employee leadership for Facilities (Maintenance and Clubhouse) employees. They also lead the Club work order system and provide leadership and guidance to all Facilities employees to ensure a consistency of daily operations and prompt reaction to unanticipated needs.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Management

  • Regularly tours and inspects all areas of the Club to ensure that cleanliness, sanitation, general order, maintenance and safety standards are being met.
  • Oversees employee activities daily to ensure quality standards are maintained in all areas of Facilities Maintenance and Clubhouse operations.
  • Liaises with subject matter experts to develop and implement best practices on maintenance procedures and employee training for tennis courts, cricket pitch, greens, and ice skating and curling rinks.
  • Maintains vendor contacts to supply products and services to the Club operation, including WSIB and insurance certificates.
  • Oversees special projects and seasonal team projects, providing assistance and guidance.
  • Assists to identify Club needs and potential improvement opportunities for technology use, efficient work practices, operational standards, and training.
  • Conducts self and leads the team in alignment with the Well Played service model (Prompt, Personalized, Polite) to support member services and respect in the workplace.

Supervision

  • Provides day-to-day directions to Facilities Maintenance and Clubhouse employee through the assignment of daily task lists and priority setting, and conducts follow-ups to ensure timely completion of all activities.
  • On a weekly basis, schedules workforce according to business needs and ensures timely reconciliation of hours worked for payroll purposes.
  • Trains and develops employees on processes and procedures to ensure a consistent delivery of work quality and service.
  • Produces and oversees weekly task lists and quality reports for the Maintenance team.
  • Participates in the hiring and onboarding process of new Facilities employees, and ensures thorough training for both new and existing employees.

Health and Safety

  • Participates as a management member of joint health & safety committee (JHSC) as required, and reports any workplace hazards to the committee.
  • Maintains knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g., OHSA, OBC, Fire Codes, OHR, TSSA, WHMIS; ensures up-to-date materials are maintained, e.g. safety data sheets.
  • Leads in securing the safety of others and responding to crisis situations where the safety of others may be at risk.
  • Works in a manner that protects one’s own health and safety, and the safety of fellow employees and members
  • Conducts training on the Emergency Response Plan for current and new employees
  • Works in and ensures compliance with Occupational Health & Safety acts and regulations, and follows Club health & safety policies and procedures, and ensures Facilities employees are doing the same.
  • Uses Personal Protective Equipment and clothing as directed by the Club, and ensures Facilities employees are doing the same.

Job Requirements

  • At least 5 years of facilities maintenance experience, preferably in a private club, hotel, spa, fitness facility, or a similar setting; exposure to recreational facilities, maintenance/operations and turfgrass maintenance an asset
  • Must have experience planning, creating, and monitoring of operation and capital budgets
  • Completion of Turf Management & IPM Designation, trade school or professional designation, CPO Designation, Refrigeration Operator Class “B” Certification, or Pesticide Exterminator license an asset
  • Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certification an asset
  • Knowledge of AV setup for events an asset
  • Must have working level of computer and office technology proficiency
  • Experience in conducting meetings, monitoring budgets, database administration and event organization
  • Excellent communications skills to explain or advise management, peers, direct reports, and members
  • Advanced skills in record-keeping, interpreting policies and procedures, and collaborating with others
  • Physical fitness required to be able to provide occasional assistance to team and to access and inspect entire physical plant
  • Must have strong mechanical and operational abilities
  • Ability to develop and maintain work order system
  • Availability to work on weekends, weeknights, and statutory holidays

The Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club is a private athletic and social club in North Toronto. The Club has a rich history dating back to the establishment of the Toronto Cricket Club in 1827 which merged with the Toronto Skating Club and the Toronto - Victoria Curling and Bowlin Club in 1957.

The Club offers a wide variety of athletics including Aquatics, Cricket, Croquet, Curling, Fitness, Lawn Bowling, Skating, Squash and Tennis with programs and facilities for all skill levels and ages. Along with our athletics, we offer a number of dining options that include bistro dining to a casual sports bar. We also offer options for our families with regular events around the club including pumpkin carving, family skating, recreational swimming and outdoor movie nights.
