Summary

DMC is currently looking for an HSEC Coordinator, to join our team on a full-time contract basis, based in Sudbury, ON. The HSEC Coordinator manages workplace health, safety, and environmental programs to prevent accidents, minimize hazards, and ensure compliance with the DMC HSE Management System, Project and Client governance, and Provincial Legislation. They lead site audits, inspections, conduct safety orientations, investigate incidents, and promote an active safety culture across all departments on the Project.

Responsibilities

Coordinates the development and revision of the Project HSE Plans, procedures and programs. Conducts inspections of all facilities and work faces. Ensure all DMC Project employees and Contractors complete the DMC Mandatory HSE training, Common Core and Client requirements. Communicate and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with DMC’s HSMS. Ensure that all HSE reporting is accurate, complete and distributed as per the DMC HSE Management System. Facilitate the investigation of incidence, accidents and injuries. Facilitates the compilation and submittal of accident / incident reports required by DMC and regulatory agencies. Cooperates in preparation of materials and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. Participates in the administration of the workers compensation program, including the coordination of modified duties. Maintains safety files and training records. Plan and conduct inspections and safety meetings with crews. Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs. Assist in conducting needs analysis, development and delivery of safety education topics. Facilitate risk assessments. Represents the organization in the community and industry with respect to group safety programs. Assists with the procurement of PPE supplies and the management of Project inventory. Assists with the orientation process of new employees. Supports new and inexperienced workers through the implementation of the DMC mentorship program Other duties as required….

Qualifications

Post-graduate diploma or degree in health and safety, medical, or related field. 3+ years of related experience. Ontario Underground Common Core Certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or the ability to achieve (asset). Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other related regulations. Excellent organizational, follow-through and workload planning skills. Independent, self-motivated, and able to take the initiative to liaise with other departments and/or external sources. Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality, utilize judgment, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Act in a professional, mature, and discrete manner consistently. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Intermediate to advanced level MS Office Suite knowledge. Experience working within the mining industry is an asset.

Working Environment

Working in a Project office setting. Travel to work site locations. Site conditions may include outdoors, dark, wet, inclement weather, and uneven ground. Underground environment utilizing cap lamp/ flashlight. Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. Vehicle - passenger or driver.

Additional Information

We are hiring to fill an existing vacancy. Hourly rate is expected to be: $30 to $35 (CAD) + hourly incentive bonus. Comprehensive benefits and retirement plan. This role will be performed ON-SITE. Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge/skills, and experience.

1980 The company was founded in 1980 as Dynatec Mining Limited. In its second year in business, it started building the Macassa Mine shaft, for which, it still holds the record for the deepest single-lift timbered shaft in the world.

1992 DMC developed the Long Round Concept for shaft sinking, an innovation that improved productivity by 20%.
