Position Summary The Academic Instructional Quality Specialist is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing the quality of instructional delivery across all academic programs at CIMT College. This role ensures that teaching practices align with institutional standards, curriculum requirements, and student engagement goals .
The specialist evaluates instructor performance through classroom observations, recorded session reviews, and structured evaluations. The role provides constructive feedback, supports instructor development, and contributes to continuous improvement in teaching practices and academic outcomes.
Working closely with the Academic Manager and Academic leadership team, the Academic Instructional Quality Specialist supports instructor training , develops instructional best practices, and contributes to institutional academic quality frameworks.
This position plays a key role in maintaining consistent teaching standards, improving instructional effectiveness, and strengthening student learning experiences across programs.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Observation & Teaching Quality Monitoring
- Observe instructor-led classes through live sessions or recorded lectures to assess instructional effectiveness.
- Conduct multiple performance evaluations for instructors throughout the academic term.
- Evaluate teaching delivery using standardized institutional quality assurance criteria.
- Ensure instructors adhere to approved course outlines, lesson plans, learning outcomes, and institutional policies.
- Identify strengths, instructional best practices, and areas for improvement in classroomdelivery.
Instructor Feedback & Performance Improvement
- Provide structured and constructive feedback following classroom observations.
- Offer practical recommendations to improve teaching techniques and student engagement.
- Assist in developing improvement plans for instructors when needed.
- Support instructors in strengthening classroom management, lesson delivery, and student interaction.
Academic Quality Assurance
- Ensure instructional delivery aligns with institutional academic standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain documentation related to instructor evaluations and quality assurance reviews.
- Identify systemic issues affecting teaching quality and recommend improvements.
- Monitor consistency of instructional practices across programs.
Policy Development & Academic Improvement
- Collaborate with the Academic Manager to develop or update policies related to instructional quality.
- Assist in establishing instructor evaluation frameworks and teaching quality standards.
- Recommend improvements in teaching methodologies, academic resources, and instructional delivery.
- Participate in institutional academic quality improvement initiatives.
Professional Standards & Compliance
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and objectivity in instructor evaluations.
- Ensure all academic evaluations are conducted fairly and consistently.
- Follow institutional policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Support a culture of academic excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or related field
Master’s degree preferred
Experience Minimum 3 years of teaching, instructional supervision, or academic quality assurance experience Preferred
- Experience evaluating instructor performance
- Experience mentoring or coaching faculty
- Experience in a career college or post-secondary education environment
Technical Skills
- Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Canvas, D2L, etc.)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Google Workspace
- Online learning platforms such as Adobe Connect or similar tools
