Role Description The Book Editor is a full-time hybrid role based in the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area, with a blend of onsite collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. The person in this role will edit manuscripts for clarity, structure, consistency, and style, ensuring that content aligns with K+Ai’s professional standards and client expectations. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and revising draft chapters, checking facts and references, coordinating with authors and internal consultants, and managing version control. The Book Editor will perform detailed proofreading, correct grammar and syntax, and improve readability while preserving the author’s voice. Additional tasks include maintaining editorial style guides, supporting content planning timelines, and providing feedback to enhance the overall quality of learning and consulting materials. Qualifications Strong manuscript development skills, including experience working with book-length or long-form content and managing multiple draft versions. Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly for diverse audiences. Advanced proofreading and text editing skills, with meticulous attention to grammar, style, and consistency. Experience collaborating with authors, subject matter experts, and project teams in a professional or academic setting. Bachelor’s degree in English, Publishing, Communications, Education, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently. Proficiency with word processing and document collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs) and familiarity with track changes and commenting features. Experience in learning and development, consulting, or educational publishing is an asset.
