About the role

JOB SUMMARY

An installer’s responsibility is to install and service multiple brands of pedestrian, power/automated doors, electro-mechanical door hardware, access control and security products, and auto operators. Installs toilet partitions, operable walls, accordion doors, wall protection, bumper guards, crash rails, corner guards, rolling shutters, and specialty items. May install and service metal and wood doors sliding doors, finished hardware, knockdown frames, where applicable install and service overhead doors, auto operators, and dock equipment.

Duties

  • Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, or work order specifications to determine layout and installation procedures, as applicable
  • Measure and mark guidelines to be used for installations, as applicable
  • Install, repair and service specialty products and/or interior prefabricated products such as doors, windows, using hand and power tools
  • Install, repair and service exterior prefabricated products using hand and power tools; and where applicable overhead door products
  • Follows direction and instruction from supervisor
  • Follows all safety policies on and off site
  • May be required to work outside of the branch’s city, which will require some overnight stays
  • Completes work orders and time sheets
  • May perform other tasks as required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Fast-paced environment

  • Outdoors

  • Works at varying heights

  • Works at varying outdoor temperatures

  • Physically demanding, ability to handle heavy objects, up to 100 lbs.

  • Lifting, carrying springs to top of doors

  • Work on scissor lifts, extension ladders

  • Climbing, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling variety of materials

  • Working overtime hours

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Commercial construction experience is considered an asset

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Low voltage termination experience

  • Ability to work independently as well in a team environment

  • Physically demanding, ability to handle heavy objects

  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, work orders, blueprints, and measuring utensils

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work to exacting standards

  • Flexible and self-motivated

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Installation experience an asset

  • Experience with various construction tools required to complete a successful installation.

  • Commercial construction experience is considered an asset

  • A strong background in the door, hardware, and building industry with knowledge of diverse power door brands is an asset

  • Product knowledge and experience an asset

  • Electrical technician credential and/or certified training by an established manufacturer in the electro-mechanical, automatic operator industry is an asset
