Location: Brantford, ON

Shifts:

8 hours initially days, which may be subject to change to accommodate business needs including shiftwork and weekends.

Role:

The Maintenance Department Electrician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, motors, control systems and automated equipment in a high‑speed manufacturing environment. This role supports production uptime by diagnosing electrical and control system issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OESC and applicable safety standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

What will you do?

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on production equipment, including but not limited to thermoforming machines, extruders, motors, drives, servos, sensors and auxiliary systems 
  • Diagnose faults in PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and control panels (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens) 
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and document work using CMMS and Poka 
  • Install, test, and maintain electrical components such as motors, relays, contactors, VFDs, and wiring systems 
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals 
  • Support equipment changeovers and ensure electrical systems are properly configured and operational 
  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures and verify zero-energy states before work 
  • Assist in root cause analysis of downtime and recurring electrical failures 
  • Recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency 
  • Support commissioning and testing of new equipment and modifications 
  • Stop production if there is a risk to safety or equipment integrity 
  • Complete all required documentation accurately (CMMS, logs, reports) 
  • Conduct all work safely and always wear prescribed PPE 
  • Identify electrical hazards and report unsafe conditions or practices 
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of work areas and electrical panels 
  • Ensure all work complies with ESA, CSA, and company safety standards 
  • Collaborate with mechanics, production, and engineering teams 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager
  • This role may require the ability to work shifts, overtime, and on call as needed

What will you bring to the role?

Licensing & education 

  • Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) is required either a 309A or 442A
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years as a licensed electrician in a manufacturing environment, ideally in a high-speed production setting
  • Hands-on experience with thermoforming equipment and related electrical systems is an asset

Technical skills — electrical & controls 

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, automation, and electrical safety codes and standards
  • Proven PLC troubleshooting experience — Allen-Bradley and Siemens are preferred
  • Working knowledge of VFDs, servo systems, motor starters and controls, safety circuits, and electrical systems
  • Fundamentals of robotic operation and industrial control systems
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and Electrical Safety in the Workplace (CSA Z462)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and equipment documentation

Systems & computer skills 

  • Experience using a CMMS or digital maintenance tracking system
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and maintenance management software

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities

  • Able to lift 35–40 lbs regularly, use elevated platforms, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods
  • Availability for on-call duties as required on occasion
