About the role

Job Description

Whether you are a foodie or passionate about student leadership, this position might just be the right fit for you! As a part-time Marketing Intern with Food Services at Wilfrid Laurier University, you will play a key role in developping promotions and engagement activities for students and the community.

We are looking for outgoing individuals who can interact with students and guests at events, capture content, as well as sharing and managing this content on social media platforms. You will be an ambassador for Food Services and the many perks and benefits that come with being a meal plan member. Events and contests are designed and hosted throughout the academic year. In addition to hosting events, you will be able to develop your creative skills through content creation, photography, and website design.

If you have curated the perfect TikTok page or enjoy editing videos, the social media management portion of this role would allow for further learning and encourage the adoption of trends.

This role is designed to allow students to further develop their skills and interests while playing a role in our Food Service department that strives to continuously support the Laurier students and community.

Job Responsibilities

  • Event Promotion: Conduct tabling events to promote food services and maintain an active presence at major events.
  • Event Assistance: Support marketing events and merchandising across all proprietary brands and franchises, including key events such as Iron Chef competitions, orientations, cooking classes, and Fair-Trade Week.
  • Graphic Design: Assist in creating graphics for social media and menu boards.
  • Content Creation: Capture photos and record videos for special events and social media purposes.
  • Market Research: Conduct marketing research to analyze competitor strategies and trends.
  • Technology Marketing: Manage and promote Hey Chef and other technology-driven marketing initiatives.
  • Flexibility: Be available to work in the evenings and occasionally on weekends as needed for event coverage.

Qualifications

  • Experience in event planning and hosting
  • Experience in Canva and/or Adobe Illustrator
  • Familiarity with social media best practices and follow trends
  • Be comfortable socializing with large groups
  • Attention for detail is needed for captions, designs, website audits, and event management
  • Be a foodie!
