Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-oriented Construction General Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will support construction projects by performing a variety of physical tasks including site preparation, material handling, assisting skilled trades, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction setting while contributing to the successful and timely completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) as needed
- Load and unload construction materials and distribute them to appropriate locations
- Prepare and clean job sites by removing debris, hazards, and waste materials
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely
- Set up and take down temporary structures (scaffolding, barricades, ramps)
- Dig trenches, backfill holes, and compact earth
- Mix and pour concrete, asphalt, or other materials as directed
- Follow blueprints, instructions, and safety guidelines
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Comply with all federal, provincial, and municipal safety regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the site supervisor
Qualifications
- Previous construction or general labor experience preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Reliable transportation to job sites
