About the role
The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with five operating mines in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Nicaragua.
Job Summary We are seeking a Permitting Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, the Permitting Specialist will be responsible for leading permitting and approvals across the operation, ensuring full compliance with provincial and federal requirements.
This position will be a hybrid role (remote/onsite), on a 5/2 schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the environmental permitting processes for projects, including preparing applications, managing technical studies, lead multi-stakeholder consultation, and follow up on information requests
- Maintain permit and consultation registers, documentation, and conditions, tracking regulatory deadlines, submissions, and key permitting milestones
- Ensure project compliance with all environmental permits, licenses, government/agency regulations and other related legal agreements
- Responsible for strategic planning for future permitting and regulatory obligations
- Provide technical support on permitting and regulatory obligations to operations
- Support updates to environmental management and monitoring plans to align with new permits and operational updates.
Required Experience And Skill Set
- 3+ years of relevant work experience, with preference given to candidates with experience in the mining industry.
- Experience in permitting, regulatory compliance, or environmental management in mining or related sectors.

Certifications

Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
