About the Role

The Full Charge Bookkeeper oversees the day-to-day financial records for Prairie Rubber Paving and its related companies, providing accurate, timely, and consistent financial support across the entire group. This role is ideal for an experienced and detail-oriented accounting professional who is confident managing full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, job costing, statutory filings, and monthly financial reporting.

You’ll work closely with ownership and operational leads and play a central role in maintaining the financial health and stability of the business.

Your typical day may include…

  • Reviewing incoming invoices, coding expenses, and entering transactions into the accounting system.
  • Preparing and sending customer invoices based on completed jobs and updated job costing details.
  • Reconciling accounts payable and following up on missing documentation from vendors or the operations team.
  • Processing payments, scheduling upcoming payables, and ensuring vendors are kept current.
  • Tracking labour, materials, and subcontractor costs to keep job costing accurate and up to date.
  • Running payroll every two weeks, verifying timesheets, calculating deductions, and preparing ROEs when needed.
  • Completing bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure all accounts are balanced and correct.
  • Monitoring daily or weekly cash flow and alerting ownership about upcoming expenses or variances.
  • Preparing government remittances (GST/PST, payroll deductions) and submitting them on schedule.
  • Drafting month-end financial statements, reconciling accounts, and preparing supporting schedules.
  • Managing fixed asset tracking, updating depreciation schedules, and entering new capital purchases.
  • Following up on overdue customer accounts and communicating clear payment expectations.
  • Maintaining organized digital and physical financial records for easy retrieval.
  • Assisting the team with financial questions, confirming deposits, issuing receipts, or preparing summary reports.
  • Develop, document, maintain, and streamline clear financial processes and workflows to ensure consistency, accuracy, and strong internal controls across the organization.
  • Maintain and update the company’s chart of accounts, ensuring proper structure, coding integrity, and alignment with financial reporting requirements.
  • Administer and process employee expense reimbursements, including verifying receipts, ensuring policy compliance, coding expenses appropriately, and issuing timely payments.
  • Reconciling intercompany accounts
  • Supporting the leadership team with estimates, budget data, or financial insights as needed.

What You Bring

  • 3–5+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping principles, payroll, reconciliations, and statutory filings
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
  • Excellent organization, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude
