Our Procurement team is growing! We're looking for a Materials Planner to join the team. As a manufacturing company - ensuring timely availability of raw materials and packaging to support production schedules is critical to the success of what we do. This role involves manual planning and ordering of raw materials and packaging, plant and office supplies, coordinating with suppliers, and working closely with internal teams to maintain material flow in a fast-paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working with spreadsheets to manage production requirements and place purchase orders in a timely manner to ensure availability for production needs.
• Monitor inventory levels and forecasts to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
• Support production scheduling with timely and accurate materials planning.
• Maintain manual planning tools and spreadsheets to determine requirements.
• Communicate with suppliers to confirm order status, lead times, and delivery schedules.
• Proactively follow up on open orders and expedite deliveries as needed.
• Escalate supply disruptions and collaborate on solutions to minimize impact.
• Follow purchase order through to completion ensuring it was received and paid accurately and on time.
• Support in the reconciliation of purchase order and payable discrepancies.
• Act as the liaison between Production, Procurement, Quality, and Warehouse teams.
• Maintain accurate records of orders, deliveries, COAs, and other critical supply documents including supplier specification sheets, and food safety certificates.
• Support inventory audits with clean and accurate data where requested.
• Support the implementation of an MRP system and manage data where necessary on an ongoing basis.
• Propose process improvements to streamline communication or reduce manual workload.
• Models and operates in a safe manner, promoting and being a positive contribution in developing a continued safety culture.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• 1 to 2 years of experience in material planning, supply chain, or inventory coordination - ideally in a manufacturing or food production environment.
• Experience using MRP system for material planning preferred.
• Strong communication skills for managing internal teams and external suppliers.
• Highly organized with proven attention to detail and accuracy in a manual planning setting.
• Proactive mindset with ability to anticipate problems and offer timely solutions.
• Comfortable using Excel for inventory tracking, planning, and reporting.
• Aspiration to grow into a broader Buying or Procurement role.
