Reporting to the Manager, Student Engagement, this position provides frontline service and administrative support to Student Engagement Services. The Associate works in a team environment to provide integrated support to Royal Roads students in on-campus, blended, and online programs. The Associate is the first point-of-contact for all student inquiries to Student Engagement (face-to-face, phone, and digital). The Associate prepares and distributes communications to students, including website updates, digital newsletters, posters, social media posts, and emails that inform students of services, events, and involvement opportunities. This role plays a key function in the welcome and transition of new students by coordinating pre-arrival communications to new international students and by providing ongoing support to LaunchPad: Orientation to RRU.

Job Requirements

• 3-5 years of administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience delivering frontline student support in a post-secondary setting and proficiency in determining when to provide referrals for service
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, as well as a high level of diplomacy, tact, and judgment necessary when dealing with difficult situations
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated intercultural competence and practical experience working with individuals and groups from different cultural backgrounds
• A keen eye for detail and the ability to produce accurate and high quality written work under tight deadlines
• Demonstrated ability in setting priorities, able to negotiate outcomes and balance competing needs from multiple functions
• Superb organizational and time management skills; competent self-starter, able to work in a dynamic, evolving environment
• Enthusiasm for working in a multicultural environment
• Office administration skills experience, including exceptional computer skills using MS Office Suite
• The ability and willingness to become proficient with university-specific software applications within a reasonable time frame (e.g., Moodle, EMS, Agresso Student, Sharepoint, WordPress and others as necessary)
• Experience working with various platforms of social media (including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)

Additional Information

This is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. This position has been evaluated at ADM-C with a salary range of $55,202 (minimum) to $64,846 (midpoint) to $74,490 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
