This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with the hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

At CBC/Radio-Canada, we have a story to tell, what’s yours?

If you share our passion for storytelling, Canada and having a positive impact on your community, CBC’s Digital Strategy and Product team is where you want to be!

CBC serves one of the country’s largest digital audiences and one of the few that is built and owned in Canada, by Canadians. Our product suite includes

cbc.ca

, CBC News app, CBC Gem and CBC Listen.

Our product vision is to make it effortless for all people and communities in Canada to tell and discover the stories that connect us. Whether delivering the latest breaking news, international hit series like North of North, deep dives into the issues of your town or neighbourhood, award winning podcasts like Someone Knows Something, or nation building events like the Olympics, our products ensure that these stories reach Canadians on their phones, TVs, desktops or smart speakers whenever they need or want us.

You have the opportunity to play a part in informing, enlightening and entertaining Canadians through innovative storytelling formats and content discovery. We are an empowered outcome-driven innovative hub for CBC, critical to the future growth of Canada’s public media company and the wider content ecosystem. We believe that we are most impactful when our teams reflect the breadth of experience of the audiences we serve and we are committed to an inclusive and equitable workplace to realize that belief. When you join our mission, you are not only contributing to the growth of the CBC, but the future of our country.

Here’s why we should work together:

Our digital teams’ values - collaboration, inclusion, learning, and continuous improvement - embody who we are as a people-focused, digital-forward employer. We follow Agile principles and the empowered product operating model. Our dedicated managers work closely with every individual to ensure we are leveraging their strengths, championing their ideas and supporting their pursuit of new skills and their desired career progression.

Here at CBC Digital Strategy & Products, your well being is critical to our success. It is essential that work be a safe space where our employees are able to share their authentic selves with one another and to push each other to challenge conventions.

Perks you can look forward to:

  • Work with purpose and impact at scale;
  • Flexible work schedules, allowing you to find balance for yourself, your family and your work;
  • A hybrid environment you can enjoy the benefits of work from home and in-office collaboration;
  • Competitive total rewards package including robust health benefits and best-in-class defined benefits pension plan;
  • Dedicated time for innovation, learning and development; wherever your interests lie;
  • Opportunities to work with emerging technology;
  • Opportunities for continued learning and professional development;
  • Opportunities to become a member of our Employee Resource Groups;
  • Mentorship opportunities, where you can learn from the best in the industry and help coach new talent;
  • A creative and dynamic work environment, where your ideas and contributions can be heard, valued and respected;
  • A supportive management team committed to upholding the highest standards of diversity and inclusivity;
  • An environment that encourages experimentation and an iterative approach to achieve a high level of agility and technical innovation.

Why is this role important?

If you aspire to work in Digital Media and contribute to the transformation of one of Canada’s most respected public broadcasters, this is your opportunity. CBC Digital Products is looking for a Junior Agile Team Lead to join our growing product organization.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, is deeply curious about how teams work, and is motivated to build healthy, empowered, and delivery focused agile teams. You are passionate about continuous learning, value meaningful outcomes over process theatre, and believe that great teams are built through trust, clarity, and shared ownership.

Although the title is Junior Agile Team Lead, you see yourself first and foremost as a servant leader, coach, and facilitator not a commander. You lead through influence, empathy, and systems thinking.

If you are motivated by purpose driven work and want to help shape how teams deliver value for Canadians, CBC is the place for you.

How you will make an impact:

As a Junior Agile Team Lead, you will play a hands-on role in strengthening team effectiveness, improving delivery flow, and supporting the broader agile transformation.

  • Coaching and Mentoring:

    • Coach and mentor individuals and teams on agile principles, values, and practices, adapting approaches to real-world constraints;
    • Support teams in developing toward empowered, self-organizing ways of working, grounded in a strong agile mindset;
    • Model curiosity, humility, and continuous improvement in day-to-day interactions.
  • Facilitation & Collaboration:

    • Facilitate core agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives;
    • Create psychologically safe environments that encourage open dialogue, constructive feedback, and shared decision-making;
    • Strengthen collaboration across product, engineering, design, and quality disciplines.
  • Process & Flow Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities to improve team processes, flow, and delivery predictability;
    • Partner with teams to apply and adapt agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban, based on team context and needs;
    • Encourage experimentation and learning to continuously improve outcomes not just adherence to process.
  • Team Empowerment:

    • Foster a culture of autonomy, accountability, and cross-functional ownership;
    • Help teams surface and remove impediments that impact delivery, quality, or team health;
    • Support teams in balancing delivery, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Agile Metrics & Insights:

    • Identify, define, and track meaningful agile metrics (e.g., predictability, cycle time) to support learning and transparency;
    • Use data as a conversation starter not a performance weapon to enable better decision making.
  • Change Management & Continuous Improvement:

    • Act as a change agent by promoting agile values and healthy team practices within your team and beyond;
    • Collaborate with leadership and partners to align expectations and support the agile journey;
    • Continuously reflect on and refine your coaching approach to improve team effectiveness.
  • Confidence, Humility, and Innovation:

    • Use observation and listening skills to understand team dynamics and influence positive change;
    • Demonstrate creativity in problem-solving and a willingness to challenge the status quo;
    • Remove obstacles with pragmatism, empathy, and systems awareness.

What you bring to our team:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field (or equivalent practical experience);
  • 3+ years of experience working in an agile environment as an Agile Practitioner, Scrum Master, or similar role;
  • Hands-on experience with Scrum and Kanban, and the ability to adapt frameworks to context;
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence is essential;
  • A solid understanding of agile principles, with a strong commitment to continuous learning;
  • Agile certifications (e.g., CSM, CSP, or equivalent) are an asset;
  • Experience working with technical teams and/or a technical background is an asset;
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written).

To Apply:

At the CBC, we recognize that not everyone takes the same path when it comes to building their skills. We value diversity of thought and of experience, and we are excited to hear from you! Hands-on experience, intelligence, innovation, a passion for learning, and a team-focused approach can combine to form the best set of qualifications. If you feel you meet most of these qualifications and you are excited by the possibility of adding to the rich culture of the CBC, take a chance and express your interest by applying now!
