THE OPPORTUNITY

Perform testing in the designated laboratory under the guidance of senior technicians and engineers. Generate reports for all testing performed in the lab and provide feedback to armor engineers in order to support Galvion’s Research & Development and Engineering projects. This position requires that work is performed in accordance with our predefined ISO 17025 standards and work instruction. This position will ensure that the prioritization of the workload is followed, and testing timelines are met; results are properly verified, well documented and reported in appropriate format.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop strong knowledge of all standards and specifications which relate to Galvion’s products and perform tests with strict adhearence to those standards.
  • Provide summary results to the Engineering team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of all test results.
  • Provides direct hands-on support in executing experiments (ballistic and non-ballistic) with minimal supervision.
  • Perform duties per work instructions and training.
  • Ensure all necessary lab supplies and tools are stocked appropriately.
  • Ensure all lab equipment is appropriately maintained, and calibrations are scheduled at specific intervals.
  • Ensure all safety requirements for lab equipment are followed at all times.
  • Assist in the design and building of testing jigs for standard and non-standard testing.
  • Ensure that all duties are performed in a timely manner consistent with applicable quality and safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Schedule tests as per departmental priorities provided by team lead.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need To Succeed

  • College or CEGEP degree in a technical discipline preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a hands-on laboratory environment or a similar professional manufacturing field.
  • Previous experiences with firearms and ballistics are a plus.
  • Ability to obtain firearms permit, for restricted and non-restricted firearms, from the Federal government is required.
  • Computer literate, proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Position requires a fast learner, attention to details and quality conscious.
  • Experience with test equipment and understanding of test standards is a plus.
  • Good bilingual (French – English) written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills. Must be adaptable to rapidly shifting priorities and testing schedules.
  • Positive team player with a willingness to learn, contribute, and support colleagues in a collaborative environment.
