Westland Insurance Group Ltd. is growing, and we’re looking for a strategic insurance leader to help shape the future of delegated authority and program business across Canada as Director, National Programs. This leadership role is responsible for the planning, design, and management of programs and delegated authority agreements, ensuring sustainable growth, strong portfolio performance, and innovative market solutions.
Reporting to the Vice President, Delegated Underwriting Authority, you will play a critical role in expanding Westland’s program portfolio. You will identify market opportunities, design specialized programs, and optimize existing agreements to deliver strong performance and long-term sustainability. Working closely with Underwriting, Broker Sales, Internal Business Development, Data & Analytics, and carrier partners, you will help position Westland as the broker of choice for delegated authority in Canada.
Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $120,000 to $140,000 based on a 35-hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role, and internal equity.

Why we’ll love You:
- 7+ years of experience in delegated authority, MGA, program management, or commercial insurance leadership
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian insurance market, insurance financials, portfolio performance, pricing, and profitability drivers
- Demonstrated success developing, implementing, optimizing, and managing insurance programs or delegated authority agreements
- Experience negotiating underwriting authority, capacity, and commercial terms with insurance carriers
- Post-secondary education in Business or a related field, with a CIP designation (or equivalent) preferred
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills with strong business acumen
- Highly self-directed and collaborative, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Once here, you'll:
- Lead the full lifecycle management of delegated authority agreements and programs, including product development, market positioning, implementation, optimization, and performance management
- Identify opportunities to grow Westland’s delegated authority portfolio while improving profitability and ensuring long-term sustainability
- Partner with Broker Sales, Internal Business Development, Underwriting, and carrier partners to deliver competitive, growth-focused solutions
- Identify underserved market segments and develop specialized programs (coverages, pricing, and service models) that differentiate Westland in the market
- Own the business case, budgets, timelines, go-to-market strategy, and successful launch execution of new programs and products
- Collaborate with Data & Analytics and IT teams to enhance reporting, technology solutions, and data-driven decision-making
- Evaluate programs against market trends to refine coverage, pricing, and delivery, ensuring ongoing competitiveness and relevance
- Monitor portfolio quality, performance, and sustainability, ensuring alignment with carrier expectations
