The HVAC Assembly Supervisor – Night Shift is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all night shift assembly and production activities within our HVAC manufacturing facility. This role provides direct supervision to assembly personnel and department leads, ensures production targets are met safely and efficiently, and maintains quality standards across all assembled units.

The Supervisor will act as the primary point of leadership during night operations, driving productivity, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring alignment with engineering, quality, and supply chain requirements.

Hours of Work

  • 44 hr. work week
  • Mon - Thursday 3:30pm - 1 am
  • Friday 3:30pm - 12:00 am

Key Responsibilities:

Assembly & Production Supervision

  • Supervise and coordinate all night shift HVAC assembly operations.
  • Assign tasks, balance workloads, and monitor productivity to meet production schedules and deadlines.
  • Ensure all assembled units meet company quality standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and escalate concerns as required.
  • Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and documentation.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Train, mentor, and evaluate assembly staff and team leaders.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct nightly safety talks, toolbox meetings, and production briefings.
  • Support workforce planning, scheduling, and cross-training initiatives.
  • Communication with Day shift Leadership

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta OHS, OSHA, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Support quality initiatives including inspections, documentation, BOMs, and non-conformance reporting.
  • Partner with quality and engineering teams to resolve defects and process gaps.
  • Lean Yellow / Green belt

Inventory & Material Coordination

  • Monitor inventory levels of assembly materials and report shortages or requirements.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, procurement, and logistics to prevent material delays.
  • Ensure material availability aligns with night shift production demands.

Continuous Improvement & Efficiency

  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies during night operations.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement initiatives where applicable.
  • Support automation, tooling upgrades, and workflow improvements.
  • Assist in controlling labor, material usage, and scrap to reduce waste and cost.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in HVAC, mechanical, sheet metal, or manufacturing assembly supervision.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and assembly processes.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience in a production environment.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and quality standards in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and manufacturing or production management systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and inspect assembly operations for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs as required.

Working Conditions

  • Night shift position within an active HVAC manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions including noise, equipment, and moving materials.
  • Requires hands-on leadership presence on the production floor throughout the shift.

ICE Western’s purpose was to take on the production of highly complex HVAC units not suited for the main plant. Now ICE Western’s state of the art industrial manufacturing facility is located on 5 acres in South Foothills Industrial Park Calgary Alberta.
