Contract Field Operator
Bellis, Alberta (Candidates must reside within 100 km of Smoky Lake) Long-Term Contract $65–$70 CAD + Benefits 8 Days On / 6 Days Off | 10-Hour Shifts
We're seeking an experienced Contract Field Operator to support oil and gas operations in the Bellis, Alberta area. This is a long-term, on-site contract opportunity for candidates with hands-on field operations experience who are committed to safe, reliable production and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Perform routine surveillance of oil and gas production facilities. Carry out minor maintenance and troubleshoot field and plant equipment. Maintain accurate operational logbooks and documentation. Issue and manage Safe Work Agreements. Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities. Identify equipment deficiencies and initiate work orders or Management of Change (MOC) documentation. Assist with writing and updating operating procedures. Participate in emergency response activities, safety programs, and incident prevention initiatives. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Support continuous improvement efforts and recommend process enhancements. Train and mentor team members as required. Work across both field and plant operations as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of direct field operations experience in the oil and gas industry. Experience operating oil and gas producing properties. Mechanical, instrumentation, or electrical experience is considered a strong asset. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working independently in field and plant environments. Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. Basic computer skills and ability to complete operational documentation.
Work Authorization & Location Requirements
On-site position based in Bellis, Alberta. Must currently reside within 100 km of Smoky Lake, Alberta. Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Canadian citizens and permanent residents only. No relocation assistance or visa sponsorship is available.
Compensation & Benefits
$65–$70/hour, depending on experience. Long-term contract opportunity. Employer-paid health and dental benefits. AD&D, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage.
