Part-Time K–5 Mandarin Teacher
About the role
Newbridge Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Mandarin Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year.
We are a small, bilingual independent school in South Surrey committed to providing students with a warm, supportive learning environment and meaningful language instruction. Our small class sizes allow teachers to build strong relationships with students and create highly interactive lessons.
Position Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:40 a.m. – 12:40 p.m.
- Hours: 20 hours per week
- Compensation: $25-30/hour
- Start Date: September 2026
Responsibilities
- Teach four 45-minute Mandarin classes each day to students in Kindergarten through Grade 5.
- Classes may include combined grade groupings depending on enrolment.
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that foster confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Mandarin.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying language abilities.
- Assist with daily outdoor supervision (approximately 45 minutes).
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to support student learning.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Mandarin and strong English communication skills.
- Experience teaching elementary-aged students is preferred.
- Experience working with both native Mandarin speakers and Mandarin as a Second Language learners is considered a strong asset.
- A creative, energetic, and student-centred approach to teaching.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
