Role Description The CWB Welding Inspector is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON. This role is responsible for performing visual and dimensional inspections of welded components, verifying compliance with CWB standards, project specifications, and company procedures. The inspector reviews welding procedures, welders’ qualifications, and inspection reports, and documents findings clearly and accurately. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring welding activities on the shop floor, identifying nonconformities, recommending corrective actions, and working closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to maintain high fabrication standards. The role also involves supporting continuous improvement initiatives, participating in quality audits, and helping train team members on welding and inspection best practices.

Qualifications

CWB certification and strong skills in Welding Inspection and Welding. Experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance within a fabrication or construction environment. Proficiency in Inspection practices, including visual inspection, measurement, and documentation. Knowledge of applicable welding codes and standards (e.g., CSA, AWS) and reading engineering drawings and welding symbols. Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to identify and resolve quality issues in a fast-paced shop environment. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with welders, supervisors, engineers, and clients. Relevant technical education in welding, metallurgy, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field is an asset. Previous experience in architectural or structural metal fabrication is considered an advantage.
