Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Director/Manager the Neuromodulation Program is currently seeking a temporary full-time Registered Nurse to provide nursing and mental health services within a comprehensive clinical program for Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) by providing nursing expertise in the provision and monitoring of complex psychopharmacological interventions for individuals with a serious mental illness living as an inpatient or in a community setting.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assessment, planning, implementing, evaluating, modifying and recording therapeutic treatment strategies, patient treatment responses and general health issues within the Recovery Plan of Care to meet patient Neuromodulation goals.
- Provide point of care and assistance to physicians throughout the course of ECT and rTMS administration, including pre-op medical and laboratory workup, peri-anaesthetic care/recovery; providing health teaching to patients and significant others as well as inpatient and outpatient health care providers (e.g., may include the management of postictal agitation using pharmacological and physical restraint)
- Provide individualized and standardized assessments and planning, monitoring and evaluation of patient outcomes
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Current registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, ECT Fellowship, and rTMS Training certification preferred
-
Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required
-
Valid IV and Phlebotomy certification required
-
Peri-Anaesthetic certification required
-
Demonstrated knowledge of Electroconvulsive Therapies and rTMS treatment theory, principles of administration, adverse reactions, protocols and procedures acquired through specialized training, research, and/or experience preferred

Recent mental health nursing in a mental health facility or service is preferred, including familiarity with the recovery philosophy, and trauma informed care

Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with patient safety in hospital programs; emergency patient care procedures; program and hospital policies and procedures
-
Demonstrated interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills

Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
-
Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results

Proven ability to adapt readily to change

Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values, and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude

Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
