Senior Accountant
Full-time

Responsible for the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, as well as validation of various balance sheet accounts for accuracy and completeness. Leads the development of process improvements and system enhancements.
How You'll Help:

Support the corporate accounting team with monthly and quarter financial statements and quarterly consolidation packages, as required.
-
Fixed Asset subledger maintenance. This includes accounting for additions, disposals and transfers, monthly closing process and reconciliations.

Validate various balance sheet accounts for accuracy and completeness.
-
Project lead on process improvement and system enhancement initiatives, as required.
-
Provides guidance to junior and intermediate level accountants, as required.

Perform other ad hoc accounting assignments, as required.
Your Skills & Experience:
-
Undergraduate degree in business or commerce with a major in accounting or finance.
-
Professional Accounting designation held or near completion.
-
Continuous development of knowledge and skills in the field of accounting, including accounting practices and Day & Ross specific requirements
Experience
-
Minimum of six years’ experience working in an accounting function in a business environment, preferably in the transportation industry.

Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office and the aptitude for learning new software.

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Strong attention to detail
-
Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

Ability to work well under pressure
-
Ability to work independently to contribute to a team and work well with a team to implement new processes and systems.

Effective time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize

Leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor junior and intermediate accountants.
