About the role

Position Summary

This role is responsible for managing and growing several key revenue streams including annual direct response fundraising, monthly giving, foundation fundraising, and a portfolio of mid-level and select major donors. Working collaboratively across Development and Marketing & Communications, the Senior Officer will help develop compelling fundraising strategies that deepen donor engagement and generate sustainable revenue growth.

Responsibilities

Annual Giving & Direct Response Lead the planning and execution of integrated direct mail fundraising campaigns. Manage campaign calendars, creative development, segmentation, production and results analysis. Work closely with external agencies, printers and mail houses. Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to align messaging across channels. Monitor campaign performance and recommend strategies to improve donor acquisition, retention and revenue.

Monthly Giving

Develop and implement strategies to grow War Child Canada’s monthly giving program. Design donor journeys that strengthen acquisition, retention, upgrades and reactivation. Monitor program performance and identify opportunities to increase lifetime donor value. Coordinate stewardship communications and impact reporting for monthly donors.

Foundation & Institutional Giving

Research prospective foundations and funding opportunities. Prepare high-quality grant proposals, reports and letters of inquiry. Manage proposal and reporting calendars to ensure deadlines are met. Support stewardship activities with foundation partners. Maintain accurate records within Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT.

Major & Mid-Level Giving

Manage a portfolio of mid-level donors and selected major gift prospects. Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship and solicitation strategies. Prepare donor briefings, proposals, reports and customized stewardship materials. Support senior leadership with donor meetings and follow-up activities.

Reporting, Administration & Team Collaboration

Maintain accurate donor records and reporting. Track fundraising KPIs and prepare performance reports. Support departmental planning and budgeting. Contribute to a collaborative and donor-centred culture within the Development team.

Qualifications

Experience & Knowledge A bachelor's degree in Fundraising, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 3-5 years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably within the charitable or not-for-profit sector. Demonstrated success managing annual giving or direct response fundraising campaigns. Experience developing and growing monthly giving programs. Proven experience preparing successful grant proposals and stewardship reports for foundations and institutional donors. Experience managing donor relationships, including mid-level and major gift portfolios. Experience using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT or a comparable donor CRM system. Knowledge of Canadian fundraising regulations and donor stewardship best practices. CFRE designation is considered an asset. Experience within the international development or humanitarian sector is considered an asset.

Skills & Ability

Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal and donor communication writing. Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret fundraising performance data and make evidence-based recommendations. High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment. Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and results-oriented approach. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and respectful engagement with diverse communities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising reporting tools.

Salary: $60,020-$67,550 CAD per year, depending on experience
