Position Overview
We're seeking a Senior Manager of Research to lead our research team's transformation into a forward-thinking insights organization that drives innovation and shapes future product roadmaps. This role combines deep research expertise with a genuine passion for emerging technologies, particularly in API ecosystems, artificial intelligence, and next-generation platform experiences.
As our Senior Manager of Research, you'll guide the evolution of research from traditional discovery and validation to strategic foresight, ensuring our research investments deliver impact across our diverse platform portfolio spanning both consumer and developer ecosystems. You'll lead and develop a high-performing team, nurturing their growth into strategic researchers who bridge emerging technology possibilities with human-centered insights.
You will report into the Director of User Experience, Platform Services and Emerging Technologies (PSET). This role can be a remote Canadian candidate or hybrid employee reporting into a hub office based in Canada.
Responsibilities

Lead our research practice in delivering strategic insights that directly influence innovation priorities and long-term product roadmaps

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing research team, including recruiting top talent and providing career guidance and performance management

Develop and execute research strategies that anticipate technology trends and their impact on customer needs, business objectives, and competitive positioning

Manage resource allocation and project prioritization to ensure research efforts align with business strategy and deliver maximum impact

Drive research excellence by setting methodology standards and implementing project governance to ensure consistent quality and delivery

Lead research initiatives across our broad platform portfolio, navigating the complexities of both consumer-facing and developer-focused products

Develop deep expertise in API ecosystems, understanding developer needs, integration challenges, and platform adoption patterns

Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies (AI/ML, platform ecosystems, APIs) and translate technological possibilities into research opportunities

Oversee the development and delivery of research reports and presentations, ensuring team outputs communicate complex findings in clear, actionable formats for stakeholders Build strong stakeholder relationships and champion research that explores the intersection of AI, APIs, and consumer experiences
Minimum Qualifications
-
8+ years of research experience with 4+ years in research management or leadership roles

Advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science (with HCI focus), Statistics/Data Science, Anthropology, Cognitive Science or related field

Proven track record of leading research that drives product strategy and business outcomes

Strong technical fluency with APIs, developer ecosystems, and emerging AI technologies
-
Experience conducting research across both consumer and B2B/developer audiences
-
Demonstrated ability to optimize team operations and establish effective prioritization frameworks
-
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to influence senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in platform companies or technology organizations with diverse product portfolios
-
Background in AI/ML research applications or human-AI interaction studies
-
Track record of anticipating technology trends and translating them into actionable business insights
-
Experience with developer research methodologies and API usability studies
-
Knowledge of research operations, tooling, and process optimization

History of building and scaling high-performing research teams

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
