Division: Business Systems & Analysis

Work Status: Full-Time

Location: Corus Quay - Toronto, ON ( Hybrid)

About the Role Corus Entertainment is seeking a dedicated Senior Cybersecurity Network Specialist to act as the primary security advisor and subject matter expert (SME) alongside our existing Network Engineering team. This is not a general networking position; it is a security oversight role. You will approach our infrastructure through a security-first lens, ensuring that every route, rule, and access path aligns with our organization’s risk tolerance and segmentation standards.

While you will maintain operational ownership of specific platforms managed by the Cybersecurity team , your primary focus will be advising, auditing, and enforcing security best practices across all network technologies operated by other departments.

Skills and experience you will bring:

Security Advisory & Oversight (Primary Focus)

  • Act as the definitive security SME for network devices owned and operated by the Network Engineering team.
  • Define firewall policy requirements, segmentation expectations, and security best practices for enterprise platforms.
  • Review proposed network configurations and change requests to evaluate their security impact and ensure strict alignment with corporate standards.
  • Provide expert guidance to Networking and Cloud teams on secure design patterns, acting as a trusted advisor on network design decisions.

Cybersecurity Platform Operations

  • Own the design, configuration, and optimization of the firewalls specifically managed by the Cybersecurity team across datacenter, branch, and cloud environments.
  • Administer and configure enterprise VPN solutions to provide secure and reliable remote access.
  • Perform regular firewall rule reviews, cleanup activities, and use auditing tools to drive risk reduction initiatives.

Governance & Threat Response

  • Apply risk analysis to identify control gaps, misconfigurations, and overly permissive access.
  • Support incident investigations involving network paths or perimeter controls, tracing traffic flows to identify malicious activity.
  • Implement blocks, isolation actions, and containment measures on Cybersecurity-owned platforms during active security events.
  • Respond to SOC escalations related to perimeter issues and provide after-hours Tier 2 response on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in network security, firewall administration, or cybersecurity infrastructure within a medium or large enterprise.

  • Exceptional ability to communicate security requirements and collaborate effectively with dedicated Networking and Infrastructure teams.

  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals (VLANs, traffic flow analysis, routing) specifically to assess how routing impacts security controls.

  • Proven operational experience with enterprise firewalls (policy management, NAT, segmentation design) and secure remote access technologies.

  • Ability to operate independently and make sound, day-to-day security decisions in a production environment.

  • Certifications such as PCNSA, PCNSE, CISSP, or equivalent enterprise firewall certifications.
