About the role
As a Produce Clerk with the Tofino Co-op, you are responsible for the proper stocking and rotation of merchandise in the produce department. At the Co-op, it is our priority to provide only the freshest and highest quality products.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Inspect all merchandise and communicate with the Produce Operator when excessive spoilage, shrinkage and shortages in inventory are evident
- Prepare, assemble and display all produce department related inventories
- Ensure all specified overnight care and department handling procedures are adhered to
- When assigned to maintain adequate inventory levels and stock control procedures
- When assigned, to be responsible for the receiving, inspecting and storage of merchandise
- Adhere to association policies and procedures relating to the maintenance, sanitation and safety of all association assets
- Display an interest and willingness to learn through training or on-the-job experience as there could be potential to develop into a leadership position
- Come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude
- Be dependable for all scheduled shifts
- Provide outstanding courteous customer service
- Be familiar with and adhere to all Tofino Co-op policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A secondary school diploma is preferred
- Previous retail experience is considered an asset
- Excellent customer service skills
- Attention to detail
- Must be able to lift 50lb
Working Conditions:
- Flexible - must be willing to work a variety of hours, including weekends and holidays based on the needs of the business
- Seasonal position starting immediately until September 30, 2026. Possible opportunities for continued part-time work beyond the seasonal period, depending on business needs and performance.
Physical Requirements:
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift for up to 8 hours
- Physically demanding; frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
- Occasional ascending or descending stairs
