About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer with expertise in Android development to join our Capital One Travel team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the design, development, and architecture of cross-platform mobile applications that enhance the customer experience. You will work within a dynamic, agile environment, contributing your technical expertise to develop innovative features that align with our mission to revolutionize banking through technology. As a key member of our team, you will mentor junior staff, influence technical decisions, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business needs.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Java or Kotlin. You should have a strong background in application and data architecture, with a proven track record of designing scalable, reliable software solutions. Experience with modern development tools and frameworks such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, Junit, and Jenkins is essential. Additionally, candidates should have demonstrated leadership capabilities through mentorship of junior team members and effective communication with technical and business stakeholders. A bachelor’s, master’s, or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS and familiarity with agile methodologies are preferred.

Responsibilities

Own the technical design, architecture, and development of multi-platform application systems, ensuring they meet performance, security, and usability standards. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle to deliver innovative mobile solutions. Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a broad set of development tools and technologies. Provide expertise on how evolving technology trends impact the domain, and incorporate best practices into project deliverables. Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
