So what’s this role all about?
The Team Leader, Financial Planning & Analysis is accountable for maintaining the analytical resources required to support operational reporting and business decision-making. This position provides direct oversight of and participates in all financial planning and analysis activities to provide accurate reporting, thorough analysis, and appropriate recommendations on the company’s profitability, solvency, stability, and liquidity.
In this role you will:
- Be accountable for ensuring data is collected, monitored, and appropriately analyzed, and that business recommendations are appropriate
- Be accountable for the sharing of accurate information through various communication methods, including presentations to larger groups and executive level management
- Analyze financial results, variances, and trends then reports findings with recommendations
- Assist with annual, quarterly, and periodic forecasting; identify financial position by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
- Design, develop, test, and maintain reporting solutions in our PowerBI reporting environment
- Construct and maintain robust data models to support dynamic and scalable reporting solutions
- Collaborate with the Data Integration team for new report development and on-going data integrity monitoring
- Assist in the budget and re-forecast process and strategic projects.
- Develop, maintain, and distribute ad-hoc reports and financial models
- Facilitate training and education of financial concepts
- Maintain automated tools for reporting and forecasting and lead the development and implementation of measures to improve performance and reliability
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders
- Be accountable for leading and directing the department in accomplishing daily tasks and project work in support of company and department plans, along with recruitment, performance monitoring, coaching, and development
- Create a team environment through ongoing communication and promote an open-door policy
- Respond to business needs outside of regular business hours for troubleshooting and system
- Value Teamwork, ownership, people, integrity and community.
A few other things we’re looking for:
- Post-secondary education in related field (Accounting/Finance/Economics/Business)
- Completion of or working towards accounting or financial analysis designation an asset
- 3-5 years of work experience in a Financial Analyst or similar position
- Strong financial analytical skills related to creating forecasts and financial modeling experience
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills: Excel and PowerPoint required
- Demonstrated proficiency with Power BI or other business intelligence and data visualization services
- Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills and be comfortable presenting for, and making recommendations to executive level management
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coach others
- Fluent in English and French is an asset
