Position Overview

MAP Canada is seeking a Senior Advisor / Director of Fundraising & Strategic Partnerships to join our leadership team in a volunteer executive capacity. This role is designed for an accomplished fundraising professional, philanthropy leader, or nonprofit executive who has demonstrated success in developing fundraising strategies, securing major gifts, building institutional partnerships, and creating sustainable revenue models. The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening MAP Canada’s fundraising strategy, expanding our donor network, developing strategic partnerships, and supporting the organization’s long-term financial sustainability. This is an opportunity for an experienced leader to apply their expertise and network toward meaningful humanitarian impact.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Fundraising Leadership

Develop and guide MAP Canada’s comprehensive fundraising strategy Establish short-term and long-term fundraising priorities Identify opportunities for revenue diversification and sustainable growth Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and leadership team Support the development of annual fundraising plans and targets

Major Gifts & Donor Relations

Identify, cultivate, and engage major donors and philanthropic partners Develop strategies for donor acquisition, stewardship, and retention Support senior leadership in donor meetings and relationship management Build a strong pipeline of prospective supporters Create approaches that inspire long-term philanthropic commitment

Foundation & Institutional Partnerships

Identify and pursue opportunities with: Private foundations Corporate foundations Institutional donors Philanthropic organizations Strategic partners Provide guidance on funding proposals, partnership models, and donor engagement strategies Strengthen MAP Canada’s position within the Canadian nonprofit and philanthropic landscape

Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorships

Develop relationships with corporate leaders and organizations Create corporate partnership opportunities aligned with MAP Canada’s mission Support sponsorship strategies for campaigns, programs, and events Build mutually beneficial partnerships that create social impact

Fundraising Infrastructure Development

Evaluate and strengthen current fundraising systems and processes Recommend best practices for donor management and engagement Support development of fundraising policies, procedures, and reporting systems Assist in building a professional fundraising culture within MAP Canada

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a highly experienced professional with: Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy, nonprofit development, business development, or strategic partnerships Proven success in securing significant funding from donors, foundations, corporations, or institutions Strong understanding of the Canadian fundraising and philanthropic environment Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with senior executives, donors, and community leaders Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

Preferred Experience

Ideal candidates may have backgrounds as: Director of Development Chief Development Officer Fundraising Consultant Foundation Executive Hospital Foundation Leader University Advancement Professional Corporate Social Responsibility Executive Nonprofit Executive Director Philanthropy Advisor

Time Commitment

This is a flexible volunteer executive leadership opportunity.

Expected commitment

Approximately 5–10 hours per month initially Participation in strategic meetings with MAP Canada leadership Support during key fundraising initiatives and partnership discussions

This role begins as a volunteer executive leadership position to establish alignment, demonstrate impact, and support organizational growth.
