What You’ll Be Doing
As an integral member of the Simplii Analytics team and reporting to the Senior Director, Machine Learning the the Senior Data Scientist delivers reporting and analysis to support decision-making and advance the strategic objectives of Simplii Financial. The Senior Data Scientist works collaboratively with partner groups across Sales, Product, Marketing, Client Experience, and Operations to drive business growth.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-2 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How You’ll Succeed
- Data Analysis & Insight Generation - Analyze complex datasets to extract actionable insights and support strategic initiatives, maintaining a strong business focus and a drive to achieve measurable business outcomes through data-driven strategies.
- Advanced Modeling & Solution Development - Develop predictive models and algorithms to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency, ensuring solution quality, integrity, and compliance with privacy and security standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges and provide data-driven solutions, while effectively communicating findings, recommendations, and technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels, both technical and non-technical.
Who You Are
- You have an advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- You can demonstrate 2 to 5 years of work experience in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modelling in a business environment with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- You can demonstrate excellent proficiency and 2 to 3 years of work experience in programming languages SQL, Spark and Python (including pandas and scikit-learn), and experience with data visualization tools. Pandas, scikit. It is an asset if you have work experience with cloud technologies and MLOPS (e.g. Databricks, MLFlow)
- You can demonstrate the ability to translate complex data and technical concepts into clear business insights and recommendations.
- Your influence makes an impact. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success.
- You have strong presentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects utilizing effective judgment in prioritizing and time allocation.
