Hybrid Work Model

For team members situated within 50 kms/31 miles of our five global offices in Ottawa, Eldoret, Penang, Columbus, and Amsterdam, you can expect to come into the office at least one day a week. Similarly, those near our co-working spaces in Nairobi and Toronto are encouraged to work onsite once a month.

Job Description

The Senior Product Manager will play a significant role in shaping and executing on Assent’s product strategy through close collaboration with our Development, QA, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing teams. This role emphasizes identifying and validating market opportunities, ensuring product solutions align with regulatory and customer requirements, and building strong business cases that resonate with senior internal and external stakeholders.This role will strive to deliver world-class capabilities aligned with customer needs within Assent’s software offering, and may oversee Product Managers supporting their product portfolio.

  • Works directly with prospects, customers and users to understand their needs, characterize and quantify opportunities, and bring resolution to issues;
  • Identifies and validates problems to solve, ensuring opportunities are viable to Assent’s business and aligned to Assent’s customer base and target verticals;
  • Collaborates with team members to create solutions to customer problems, outlined in investment summaries and investment briefs;
  • Works across teams to identify dependencies;
  • Defines roadmap and creates materials for internal and external use, communicates vision and strategy to senior internal and external stakeholders as applicable;
  • Quantifies and articulates value, and makes recommendations on pricing;
  • Clearly defines scope of requirements and timelines for success, works with internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication across the organization, using approved internal tools
  • Ensures that business objectives are still being met, when dealing with unforeseen change during delivery of scope;
  • Takes full accountability of solutions brought to market, evaluating and prioritizing success metrics including adoption, bug reports, and satisfaction levels
  • Collaborates on market research to understand and contribute to the assessment of the competitive landscape;
  • Conducts win/loss analysis independently and contributes to artifacts;
  • Maintains knowledge of new trends and products in the market and in adjacent products;
  • Collaborates with and supports internal groups to help launch products and features;
  • Contributes to the definition of the vision for one or more products;
  • Nurtures and grows product expertise in their area of ownership;
  • Contributes to the correlation of product definitions and market needs;
  • Collaborates with go-to-market teams including marketing, regulatory, and sales to define solutions and understand market impact;
  • Contributes to the development of key messaging;
  • May hold managerial responsibilities for Product Managers that support products within their portfolio;

Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English - you communicate clearly, concisely and with tact;
  • A University, College and/or Post Graduate certificate in Information Technology, Computer or environmental Science, or similar;
  • At least 8 years of relevant and progressive experience in Product Management for a SaaS company;
  • You are passionate about helping customers, and providing solutions to their problems;
  • Deep understanding of SaaS;
  • Avid consumer of current and emerging technologies; especially Generative AI and LLMs, and incorporating learnings into your work
  • Understanding of databases, software development processes and lifecycle, and quality assurance principles;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - you are able to build and scale stable relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders both internally, and externally with prospects and customers;
  • Team player with strong collaboration skills - you seek to understand, ask the right questions, communicate proactively and effectively on the goals and outcomes for owned product, and involve the right people at the right time
  • Excellent leading, influencing and negotiation skills - strong ability to build consensus and get buy-in on product vision and direction, and orient teams to the actions required for success;
  • Strong presentation skills, ability to tailor the message to the audience, and deliver the intended message effectively;
  • High degree of professionalism, maturity and emotional intelligence;

In addition to the general responsibilities and qualifications outlined above, this Senior Product Manager role will have domain-specific expertise requirements, reflecting responsibility for Assent’s product compliance capabilities, including support for regulatory coverage, customer workflows, and data management at scale.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Deep expertise in global materials and substances compliance, including hands-on experience with regulations and declarable substance lists (DSLs), including but not limited to: REACH SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern); RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive); Prop 65 (California Proposition 65); TSCA (Toxic Substances Control Act); other similar existing and emerging international regulations
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing bills of materials (BoMs) and related systems in regulated industries, including experience with IMDS (International Material Data System) in the automotive sector.
  • Familiarity with material declaration management standards such as IPC-1752A, with the ability to apply these standards to real-world manufacturer workflows.
  • Detailed understanding of interoperable data between overlapping and evolving global regulations, with the ability to identify efficiencies and synergies across compliance requirements.
  • Forward-thinking perspective on how to design solutions that scale with ever-increasing global regulatory demands, ensuring manufacturers can adapt with confidence.
  • Innovative mindset regarding integrations and automation, creating product approaches that optimize compliance processes, reduce manual effort, and improve outcomes.
  • Ability to collaborate across regulatory, engineering, and customer-facing functions to ensure Assent’s product compliance capabilities are both technically rigorous and market-relevant.
  • Proven ability to communicate compliance challenges and solutions to diverse audiences, from technical engineering teams to senior business stakeholders.
