Role Overview Reporting to the Metallurgy Development Manager, the Process / Control Systems Analyst's primary function is to develop, design and maintain efficient process control in a heavy industrial setting. The role also requires analysis of operating data, identifying potential problems, and initiating corrective action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Implement control system configurations, modifications, and strategies to meet operations' requirements
  • Evaluate plant and / or chemical processes and make recommendations for improvement to existing process or control systems hardware and/or software
  • Monitor the process control computer systems; monitor system to ensure optimum performance; ensure integrity of the database and information; perform or direct others in database backups and approve access to systems
  • Design or make modifications to process control or plant processes to improve and ensure product quality, worker safety and health, environmental protection, and plant production
  • Coordinate with operations, technical personnel, process engineers and engineering contractors/suppliers, to ensure compliance with standards, guidelines, and procedures relative to control systems equipment and programming
  • Create, develop and implement innovative and original advanced process control strategies and algorithms
  • As a project leader ensure plant project control system engineering requirements are met and quality solutions are delivered
  • Coordinate with Trades, suppliers and contractors in the installation, commissioning and expansion of control systems; responsible for budget and schedule on minor projects
  • Train and direct users of the various control systems, including operators, process engineers, management and trades personnel to ensure the integrity TCML standards are met
  • Direct with the updating of process control loop programming information; manage all plant loops including the complete aspects of tuning, application of advanced control techniques and configuration and documentation
  • Direct plant support staff and trades personnel in the maintenance and support of plant control systems; develop job procedures for plant operators, engineering and trades personnel
  • Develop, strategize, standardize and implement standardized computerized and field test methods to optimize plant processes and ensure the validity of process measurements; instruct support personnel in the use of these methods
  • Develop and summarize process information using online screens, HMI’s, routine and adhoc reports for plant management, engineers, operators and technical support personnel

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a technical diploma or degree in Instrumentation, Control Systems, Electrical, or similar certification
  • Greater than 5 years of industrial plant experience in the configuration and maintenance of process control systems or relevant technical / trades work
  • Proven ability to apply various process control and troubleshooting techniques to improve process operation or solve operational problems.
  • Configuration experience required in at least one of Foxboro or ABB Distributed Control Systems or Modicon Programable Logic Controllers (utilizing Control Export and Unity Software). Additionally, Wonderware InTouch Software would be preferable
  • A high level of working knowledge and experience in computer systems and networks
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills to demonstrate operating procedures, train, and direct users of control systems, write reports, redline documents, and maintain records
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to problem solve and resolve conflict

Pay Range: $49.10 - $57.58 /hour
