Analyst, Business Development (Energy Market Development)

SaskEnergy’s Energy Market Development team is responsible to understand how SaskEnergy can meet the changing needs of our customers, particularly in sectors like mining and energy, while continuing to strengthen our core business. The Analyst, Business Development (Energy Market Development) is a key part of the Energy Market Development team that identifies and develops new energy market opportunities to help shape future service offerings related to SaskEnergy’s corporate strategy.
We are seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Analyst, Business Development (Energy Market Development) provides research, analysis and reporting support to the department assisting in the achievement of business goals and objectives.
Position Details
- Union - This position is temporary full time for up to 6 months.
Core Responsibilities
Research and Analysis
- Plan, coordinate, conduct and document the research and analysis necessary to evaluate and justify corporate project selections decisions.
- Analyze, prepare and revise business information (such as reports, surveys, estimates, forecasts, tenders, contracts, briefings and action plans) and initiate and complete follow-up action as required.
- Perform special studies.
- Perform forecasting, economic and financial analysis, including performing computer modeling, statistical and regression analysis.
- Consult with various producers, customers, partners, businesses, departments and Government Agencies to obtain and verify market intelligence.
Business Strategy Integration and Administration
- Assist in the development of risk analysis procedures to quantify project sensitivities.
- Assist in the development and application of project prioritization processes.
- Assist in the development and review of corporate processes, policies, budgets, objectives and strategic business plans.
- Assist in departmental administration, accounting, record maintenance, research and report development and project coordination.
Other Support
- Monitor industry news services (e.g. Daily Oil Bulletin, Oil Hotline, etc.) and local and national papers to compile relevant information for distribution within the department and to identify potential business opportunities.
- Monitor established venture performance characteristics, compile operating data and provide variance reporting against established benchmarks for distribution and evaluation.
- Perform studies to improve budgeting and cost allocation methods and to verify consistency with actual operations and industry practice.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Degree in Commerce, Administration, Economics or Engineering.
- Three (3) years of experience in the operation of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics and database applications.
- Two (2) years of experience in business development, preferably in the energy industry.
Additional Information
- Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters is required on occasion.
