Job Summary
We are currently seeking a motivated General Production to join our Winding department. In this role, you will use coil-winding machines to wind coils used in distribution transformers. Coils are wound by reviewing wiring diagrams and work orders to select the specified wire type by length and circumference.
Responsibilities:
- Select coil-forming device for specified coil and fasten device onto machine mandrel
- Feeds strip through the machine and weld start leads onto the strip. Wind strip to specific turn and weld finish leads
- Feeds wire from reel through tension device, guides, and spreader, bends wire ends to form lead and attaches lead to coil core
- Turns setscrews to adjust tension on wire and sets the counter to zero
- Starts machine and manually feeds wire over coil core to obtain an even and uniform winding and shape of coil
- Observes counter and stops machine at a specified number of turns
- Wraps insulation between layers and around wound coil or inserts, cooling ducts
- Cuts wire to form leads, using wire or bolt cutters
- Pounds coil with hammer or mallet to shape end windings or remove coil from fixtures
- Winds paper around the coil
- Strips insulation from end of lead wires, threads lead wires through insulating sleeves or slide
- Sleeves over leads, and solders lead wires winding
- Stop machines to remove completed coils using hand tools
- Other duties assigned by Value Stream Supervisor
Requirements
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly role is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with hand tools
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Good communication skills and teamwork capabilities
- Willingness to comply with safety regulations and practices

Shift and Flexibility:
- Training: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (10-hour shifts)
- Regular Schedule (after training): Monday–Thursday, 4:30 PM – 3:00 AM (Afternoon Shift)
- Overtime: Fridays, based on business needs
