Senior Accountant

Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid) Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team in Montreal. This opportunity is ideal for a designated CPA currently working in public accounting, preferably with a Big 4 audit background, who is looking to transition into industry and gain broader exposure to financial reporting, operational accounting, and strategic business initiatives.

Responsibilities Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis. Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable accounting standards. Analyze account balances, identify variances, and provide meaningful insights to management. Coordinate and support annual external audits and serve as a key point of contact for auditors. Assist with technical accounting research and the implementation of new accounting standards. Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance and financial integrity. Partner with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and business initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen reporting capabilities. Support special projects, system enhancements, and corporate finance initiatives as needed.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation required (CPA Canada). 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience. Prior experience within a Big 4 public accounting audit practice strongly preferred. Strong understanding of IFRS, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience working with large, complex organizations is highly desirable. Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.

Preferred Candidate Profile CPA coming directly from a Big 4 audit firm at the Senior Associate or Manager level. Experience auditing public companies or large private enterprises. Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating across departments. Looking to build a long-term career within a growing organization.
