Summary
Responsible and accountable to use deep technical knowledge to assist with and provide guidance in the testing of Handtmann food processing equipment technologies and to assist on troubleshooting issues for complex customer installations. The position is also responsible for generating and distributing technical reports regarding testing results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists in internal testing conducted at the Technology Center.
- Documents and distributes results of tests completed within the Technology Center and at customer locations.
- Handles the sanitation of the Technology Center and equipment to ensure compliance with written Technology Center sanitation procedures.
- Researches and maintains supply and ingredient needs for internal testing.
- Assists in troubleshooting and problem solving for complex installations.
- Creates and manages equipment documentation to share knowledge within Handtmann.
- Responsible for writing detailed and well-structured technical reports in both Word and Excel formats, on a timely basis.
- Assists in the development of technical documents.
- Fosters and maintains excellent relations with customers.
- Results-focused, able to work independently with little supervision.
- Able to travel freely within GTA, Canada and Internationally if required.
- The domestic travel will involve running equipment trials for clients, giving presentations, and training customers, together with Technical Service and Sales teams.
- Mechanically inclined to set up equipment for testing purposes, demonstrations, and general production.
- Excellent soft skills and the ability to perform well in food plants and headquarters as needed to achieve the specifics goals.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work, multi-task and quickly respond in a fast-paced changing environment
Sphere of Interaction
This position interacts and interfaces with senior management and all employees, especially Germany technical resources, field service personnel, applications, sales and parts department members. In addition, there will be frequent contact with customers and potential customers.

Knowledge Required
- Background in food science and/or engineering with a strong understanding of formulation and food chemistry.
- 2–5 years of experience in meat, bakery, pet food or food equipment technical services or application development, including direct collaboration with sales teams and customers.
- Experience managing projects and milestones throughout the sales-to-delivery lifecycle, including equipment specifications, design reviews, approval drawings, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
Preferred
- Industrial food processing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in food processing or a related discipline.
- Broad knowledge of ingredient functionality and processing across multiple food industry segments is an asset
- Experience with installation and commissioning equipment in manufacturing plants.
