Business Analyst Programmer / Bluewater Power Distribution Corporation

Bluewater Power Distribution Corporation is the founding member of the Bluewater Power Group of Companies, headquartered in Sarnia Ontario. A progressive local distribution company, Bluewater Power distributes power to over 35,000 customers in six Sarnia-Lambton communities. The Bluewater Power Group of Companies also includes the following independent market driven private Corporations: Electek Power Services Inc., Bluewater Power Services Corporation, Bluewater Power Renewable Energy Inc., and Bluewater Regional Networks Inc.

The Business Analyst Programmer will design, develop, and refine software systems – including critical data integrations with third-party platforms, resolve end-user issues, and maintain existing applications. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Duties include:

  • Perform hands-on analysis of new and existing business processes
  • Conduct writing, translating and coding of software programs and applications according to specifications
  • Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs
  • Monitor and maintain daily data-sync jobs to the Meter Data Management / Repository (MDM/R)
  • Serve as administrator for organization’s utility mandated initiatives for data usage
  • Participate in end user business team discussions aimed at strategic integrated solutions between various software applications including both internal and external systems.
  • Collaborate with end users on in-house software developments to gather requirements, identify pain points, and understand business needs
  • Assist vendors with understanding and developing new software features based on end user requirements.
  • Provide application and training support for end users
  • Comply with all IT security measures and documentation standards relating to application development, testing, support and training activities
  • May be required to assist with projects outside of office hours ie: business software and system upgrades
  • Remain current in technology trends and developments
  • Serve as a key contact for the company’s AI and large-language-model (LLM) initiatives

Qualifications:

  • University degree or community college diploma from an accredited educational institution in Computer Science.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in current programming languages, including but not limited to, ABAP, .NET, Python, C/C++, Java, etc. required.
  • Experience with SAP solutions and Utilities (IS-U) considered an asset.
  • Understanding of database structures and design with an emphasis on SQL.
  • Proven analytical and superior problem-solving skills.
  • Aptitude for learning and understanding new technologies.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a challenging environment.
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a positive approach to work and co-workers.
