About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced strategic finance leader with extensive experience leading financial operations within the oil and gas services sector. Proven expertise in financial planning and analysis, regulatory compliance, and executive reporting, ensuring financial integrity while supporting operational growth and profitability. This role is hands-on and requires someone who can lead and support our finance team, builds strong relationships with stakeholders, and be a trusted partner to other Avenge leaders.
This and on-site position, and will be based out of Fort Saskatchewan or Calgary, Alberta
No remote or hybrid arrangements are available.

Financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting Regulatory compliance and internal controls Cash flow and working capital management Financial statement analysis and KPI reporting ERP implementation and process optimization Risk management and corporate governance Audit management and external stakeholder relations Strategic business partnering with operations and executive leadership Team leadership, coaching, and performance development
Key Responsibilities
Lead all finance and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies. Oversee the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning to support strategic decision-making. Deliver accurate and timely monthly financial reporting packages, including variance analysis, KPI dashboards, and executive insights for senior leadership and the Board. Strengthen internal controls and financial governance to mitigate operational and financial risk. Partner with operations to improve profitability through cost analysis, margin optimization, and financial performance monitoring. Manage treasury activities, cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and working capital requirements. Coordinate external audits, tax compliance, and statutory reporting requirements. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, reporting systems, and ERP platforms to enhance efficiency and data quality. Develop and mentor high-performing finance teams while fostering a culture of accountability, compliance, and operational excellence.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field CPA designation (or actively pursuing final designation) Minimum 7 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years in a senior role such as Controller, Assistant Controller, or Finance Manager Experience in oil and gas services, energy services, industrial services, or a related sector Demonstrated experience managing month end close, financial reporting, and annual budgeting for a small to mid-size organization Working knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE) and general regulatory compliance requirements Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising a small accounting or finance team Willingness to travel periodically to operational sites in Alberta
Preferences
Experience in a private or founder led business Comfortable operating in a lean finance function with hands-on involvement, rather than a large, layered finance department
