Software Developer
Please note: The successful candidate must reside in the Edmonton area, as this is a hybrid position.
Position Overview Our client is seeking a talented Software Developer to design, build, and maintain reliable business applications and software services. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to analyze business requirements, solve complex technical challenges, and deliver effective software solutions. The successful candidate will support both existing applications and modernization initiatives while leveraging modern development practices, including AI-assisted development, to enhance solution design, testing, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities Software Development & Support Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain business applications and software solutions. Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical, scalable solutions. Participate in project planning, task management, and workload prioritization. Follow established source control and development best practices. Maintain and enhance existing applications while contributing to modernization initiatives. Develop robust, fault-tolerant software solutions with a focus on quality, performance, and security.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement Perform system testing and participate in peer code reviews. Create and maintain automated unit and integration tests to validate functionality and performance. Support continuous integration and continuous delivery practices throughout the software development lifecycle. Research emerging technologies and development methodologies, including AI-assisted development practices, and provide recommendations for process and technology improvements. Contribute to ongoing efforts to improve software quality, operational efficiency, and user experience.
Qualifications Required Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 years of software development experience.
Preferred Technical Skills Experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET, OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect, and unit testing frameworks. Experience building server-side applications using technologies such as Blazor, MVC, GraphQL, SignalR, and RESTful APIs. Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, Entity Framework Core, data modelling, and data architecture concepts. Front-end development experience using JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. Experience with Git or other source control systems.
Professional Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
