Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Director, Compensation, the Compensation Advisor will provide support to the Compensation team and will assist in the planning, implementation, and administration of HOOPP’s compensation programs.

The Compensation Advisor will participate in the job evaluation process, working closely with Compensation and HR Business Partner team members. The Compensation Advisor will also be responsible for completing compensation surveys and providing comprehensive analysis to support market reviews. This position will collect, compile, and analyze data for various regular reviews and ad hoc reports as required. This position will also assist in the forecasting and budgeting process and participate in year-end compensation program cycle delivery.

What you will do:

Compensation activities

  • Research and analyze the impact of policy and legislative changes to HOOPP’s compensation policies and programs
  • Update compensation guidelines as required to ensure consistency throughout the organization
  • Support Compensation team with day-to-day activities, such as job evaluations, salary administration and recommendations, etc.
  • Responsible for data collection, analysis of information, and preparation of regular reviews (including pay equity) and ad hoc reports for various divisions

Year-end pay review

  • Under the direction of the Associate Director, Compensation Operations and Program Delivery collaborate with other HR teams and subject matter experts as required to deliver year-end compensation program cycle
  • First point of contact for year-end questions related to compensation programs or Workday compensation module
  • Assist with year-end compensation program cycle set-up and testing in Workday which includes administration, audits, and reporting
  • Assist with the preparation of related communications (e.g., letters and statements)

Market data and research

  • Participates in various compensation surveys and supports the data collection for submissions and analysis
  • Analyzes survey results, identify market trends, and assist with the preparation of market review presentations and ad-hoc reports
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating survey and company information in Market Pay for reporting purposes

Forecasts and Budgeting

  • Assist Associate Director(s), Compensation with quarterly forecasts and budgeting
  • Centrally tracks special compensation arrangements for budgeting and reporting purposes
  • As required, provides analysis for modelling and costing of compensation recommendation and/or program changes

Workday

  • Responsible for maintaining and updating compensation-related information in Workday
  • Responsible for data integrity including regular audits of compensation-related information in Workday
  • Assist with Workday (Compensation modules) annual year-end and bi-annual testing of new release features
  • Assist Associate Director, Compensation Operations & Delivery with Workday EIBs
  • Partner with HR IT and HR Ops by contributing to testing of releases and any system enhancement as we build out Workday modules and our compensation programs

What you will bring:

  • Successful completion of relevant university or college program and completion of post-secondary HR program is an asset
  • CCP or CHRM designation completed or in progress
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in compensation and/or total rewards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compensation programs, policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
  • Direct work experience in job evaluation, compensation survey benchmarking, salary and incentive pay plan administration
  • Advanced computer skills (MS office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) required
  • Knowledge and experience with Workday strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
  • Sound judgement and maturity in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

The expected annual base salary range for this role is: $71,000 - $109,000 CAD

The actual base salary offered to the successful candidate may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, individual's expertise and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered.

This role is eligible to participate in discretionary incentive plan(s), subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan text.
