About the role

310T Licensed Mechanic Lead Hand – (Days)

Riverdale is looking for a hands-on 310T Lead Hand / Shop Foreman to strengthen our London shop team. This is a high-impact leadership role for a technician who can run complex diagnostics, set the standard for repair quality, and help manage the “shop heartbeat” (workflow, paperwork, and parts readiness) for a standardized Freightliner Cascadia fleet.

This role is for a self-directed professional who thrives in a “Get it Done Right” culture. You will balance a hands-on workload with technical leadership, ensuring every Cascadia unit returns to service safely and reliably to ensure our mission of animal welfare and food security is never compromised by downtime.

Pay & Perks

  • Pay: $47.93/hour
  • Payment Frequency: Paid weekly
  • Allowances: Annual tool allowance and safety boot allowance
  • Benefits: Group benefits (health, dental, vision) fully covered after 3-month probationary period
  • Retirement: Eligible for RRSP matching after one year
  • Time Off: 15 paid vacation days per year
  • Culture: Holiday lunches, regular appreciation events, Holiday gifts for your kids or grandkids, family contests, and volunteer opportunities

Schedule

  • Shift: Monday to Friday, Day Shift
  • Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

What You’ll Be Doing

Technical Leadership (Working Lead): Act as the shop’s technical reference - lead complex Cascadia diagnostics and repairs, complete hands-on PM/inspections/priority breakdown work, use DTNA DiagnosticLink to confirm root cause and verify fixes, and coach the team through difficult jobs as the escalation point.

Shop Execution & Workflow: Lead daily shop flow by triaging incoming work, prioritizing repairs/PMs, assigning tasks, and keeping work-in-progress moving by removing blockers (parts, information, repair approach, approvals).

Quality Control & Safety: Serve as the shop’s quality gate - inspect safety-critical work, enforce verification standards, and maintain a low comeback/rework rate while ensuring a safe, organized shop environment.

Data Integrity (Fleetio): Ensure every work order - yours and the team’s - meets Riverdale’s documentation standard before closing: 3 Cs (Complaint, Cause, Correction), labor time, parts used, and final verification.

What You Need

  • Valid 310T Truck & Coach Technician License (Ontario)

  • Your own tools in good working order

  • Valid G Class drivers license

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Computer skills to close out work orders

  • Deep technical knowledge of Freightliner Cascadia platforms, specifically advanced electrical troubleshooting and aftertreatment systems.

  • Proven Leadership Experience: 3+ years in a Lead Hand or Foreman role
