Responsibilities

  • Deliver procurement strategies that directly support and advance organizational objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance on evolving procurement trends, innovations, and best practices within the knowledge sector.
  • Monitor and uphold governance across policies, trade agreements, legislation, process workflows, and compliance standards.
  • Partner with contract managers to define and articulate business needs, establishing clear evaluation criteria to produce high-quality procurement documentation (e.g., NRFPs, RFQs).
  • Lead procurement initiatives — including open competitive processes — from planning through to contract execution, ensuring fairness, transparency, and compliance at every stage.
  • Manage shared responsibilities such as contract management, third-party risk management, and onboarding/offboarding of external resources, ensuring timely and effective action.
  • Champion continuous improvement, seeking and implementing opportunities to drive efficiencies and enhance processes.
  • Build and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, consistently reflecting AIMCo’s values in every interaction.
  • Demonstrate accountability, integrity, and sound decision-making, upholding our cultural commitment to Doing Business the Right Way.

Our Ideal Candidate Education & Experience

  • A university degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of procurement experience within the financial services industry.
  • Proven track record in negotiating contracts and agreements.
  • Experience working with Market Data contracts (asset).
  • Familiarity with MERX and Alberta Purchasing Connection (APC) (asset).

Success Measures Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficient in contract management systems, effectively handling high volumes of contract records.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable trade agreements (CETA, CFTA, NWPTA) and relevant legislation (FOIPPA, FFA).
  • Strong understanding of contract law and comfort using a variety of technologies and systems.
  • Exceptional skill in writing, reviewing, and editing procurement documentation (RFx, Statements of Work, contracts) with keen attention to detail.
