Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT
Department: Intensive Care Unit, ICU
Location: Victoria, BC
Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Technologist to join our ICU team!
This role works closely with our two boarded Criticalists: Dr. Elise Boller DVM, DACVECC and Dr. Manuel Boller DVM, MTR, DACVECC. You will also be surrounded by experienced RVTs, our other board-certified specialists, and ER Veterinarians in a fast-paced, stimulating, world-class medical environment. If you already have your VTS in Emergency and Critical Care, or if you dream of one day achieving your VTS, this is where you want to be: among specialists who literally wrote the books on Veterinary Medicine and the RECOVER initiative, as well as our anesthesia-focused RVT and board-certified anesthesiologist. We are a supportive, collaborative, hands-on teaching facility for anyone wanting to grow their skills.
Successful candidates will display strong leadership, a desire to grow their skills, a positive teamwork-type attitude and a personality that can deliver exceptional customer service and communication skills. This position offers a rotating DAYTIME schedule and a great work-life balance. Preference will be given to applicants with previous ICU experience.
Additional qualifications and attributes you must embrace to be successful in this role:
- Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT or eligible to register
- Perform clinical procedures; Venipuncture, Catheter placement, radiology, anesthesia monitoring and patient assessment
- Willing to further enhance technical skills, including advanced catheterization procedures, anesthesia, and mechanical ventilator use, to name a few
- Ability to thrive in a steady and often fast-paced environment
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and pet parents
- Proven ability to keep accurate patient records
- Strong ability to problem-solve
- A love of pets, of course!
