Role Overview As a Staff Accountant at GoodMorning.com you will support the day-to-day operations of the accounting and finance team. Working closely with the Controller, you will assist in the preparation of financial statements, collaborate on cross functional projects, monitor & assess key performance indicators, and help to build process efficiencies within the department. Your role will be centred around four main pillars: month end close, P&L reporting by function and business line, budget/forecast support, along with process improvement and by extension documentation. This role requires collaboration, analytical thinking, and strong attention to detail.

Process Improvement

continuously assessing and recommending improvements for accounting processes, controls, and the efficiency of the Finance team.

Partner with operations and IT teams as part of a financial systems transformation

Assist with uploading sale transactions

Entering supplier invoices and SG&A expenses

Audit vendor invoices and inventory quantities
-
Prepare accurate monthly financial statements in a timely manner

Manage vendor payment processing in multiple currencies

Monitor customer credit card transactions and refunds
-
Assist with management reporting on performance indicators
-
Assist with projects such as the annual budget and corporate valuation
Our ideal candidate
-
The successful candidate will possess a post-secondary degree in Accounting (or equivalent) with 2-4 years of experience.

Preference will be given to candidates currently enrolled in an Accounting designation (CPA)
-
Demonstrable knowledge of, and understanding of, accounting standards (ASPE and or IFRS)
-
Demonstrated professionalism when handling financial information.
Skills To Have
- Initiative to identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail to research and resolve issues.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks or similar accounting software
- Proficiency working with spreadsheets
